Hi-tech designer from Bug Labs

The company Bug Labs , preoccupied with creating something original, raised the topic of modular portable devices. Moreover, according to representatives of Bug Labs, the concept of the “electronic designer” developed by their company will be of interest not only to enthusiasts, but also to the mass consumer. Honestly, I'm not so sure.

The modular gadget from Bug Labs, which, without hesitation, called BUG, will consist of a central module BUGbase (central processor, 128 MB of RAM, Wi-Fi chip, Ethernet controller, USB interface, a small LCD screen and battery) and heaps of additional “periphery” elements connected to the head module via the Bug Module Interface (BMI) own interface. It can be a GPS receiver, a touch panel, a motion sensor, etc., everything that can be “added” from the category of useful or just interesting.

It is remarkable that all this economy will be managed by Linux OS. And the software for this "electronic designer" is planned to be written using Java and OSGi.

A full announcement of the device will be held in March 2008.
