AMD has released a stream processor

FireStream 9170 - this is the name of the newest stream processor released by AMD. The device is based on the ATI graphics chip, made on the 55-nm process technology and containing 320 cores. Performance "pebble", if you believe the official characteristics , is 500 gigaflops - that's a lot! The power consumed does not exceed 150 W, so that the processor can be placed in the chassis, even with a very dense "building". By the way, the processor itself is placed on a special board accompanied by 2 GB of GDDR3 memory. The board has a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot and can be used on computers with both Windows and Linux.

Together with the FireStream 9170, AMD will distribute the corresponding SDK. It will happen at the beginning of the coming year. The cost of the set will be 1999 US dollars, which is not much, given the performance and potential of the novelty.
