What to use extra computer?

OK. Another post from my main blog ...

Recently, on my post about another iron implementation of Windows Home Server, I received a comment that made me think. He looked like this:

... Post about rack mount computer with Windows Home Server preinstalled ...
')
Comment 1:
And on it would also put the ADSL modem ...

Comment 2:
> And it would also have to put an ADSL modem on it ...
... and also install Linux :)

What struck me this second comment is a kind of naive-childish idiocy. Well, yes, buy a good computer for eight hundred greens, throw out everything that makes it useful, and install Linux. Joy.

In general, “paint it and throw it away” ...

And then I thought, maybe I suffer from idiocy? Can a person really be able to do something useful, sow sensible, kind, eternal with this box with Linux? Maybe I miss a chance that happens once in a lifetime?

No, really. So I just upgraded my son's computer, and as a result, I still had a really good computer, just need to wash it and put the hard drive. Put him on Linax, of course - just spit. Now the question is: where can I shove this relatively good computer with Linux so that it not only eats energy and collects dust, but also does something good or useful?

Not. THERE is not necessary. This is not good and not useful. Other offers?

You can, of course, cram hard drives into it and have network data storage for the whole family. True, Windows Home Server already does this in my home, and it does it much better. To prevent yelling about who is better, I will explain what is “better” for me — so that I stand in a corner and do not demand attention. And to add a disc was a matter of a few minutes. And so that later this storage could continue to be used just like before, just more space. In general, they are not looking for well from good.

Rauther? But this already makes my wife's computer under Windows XP Professional. And he does everything himself, I did not even configure it. No, I lie, it seems I pressed one checkbox about ten years ago ...

Web site? Yes, I still haven't gotten my hands on activating the website, which comes free with Windows Home Server. Well, what to do? I have enough websites .

Mail server? What for? All have long used mail through the web.

So where to shove a computer with Linux to make it pleasant and useful? And in general, what would use an extra computer?
