ASUS PadFone 2 - already in Russia

Today in Moscow, an event was held dedicated to the launch of the ASUS PadFone 2 smartphone transformer on the Russian market. PadFone 2 is a modern 4.7-inch smartphone with a quad-core processor, Android operating system and LTE support, which can turn into a 10.1-inch tablet computer after connecting to the dock PadFone 2 Station. PadFone 2 software is optimized for both modes of operation, providing an instant transition from smartphone to tablet and back.


The PadFone 2 Station docking station is lighter and thinner than the original PadFone, so the total weight of the PadFone 2 + PadFone 2 Station is only 649 g. Despite the screen increased to 4.7 inches, the PadFone 2 smartphone itself remained very compact. Its thickness is not more than 9 mm, and its weight is only 135 g.

PadFone 2 is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 2,140 mAh, which provides up to 16 hours of battery life in talk mode on 3G networks, and the PadFone 2 Station docking station additionally increases this parameter by up to 36 hours. In standby mode, the device can work up to 2 weeks.

High performance PadFone 2 in both smartphone mode and tablet mode provides a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with a frequency of 1.5 GHz and 2 GB of system memory. The new 4.7-inch Super IPS + screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels is equipped with Corning Fit scratch-resistant protective glass. It is distinguished by large viewing angles, accurate color reproduction and high brightness (550 cd / m2).



The smartphone is equipped with a 13-megapixel camera capable of taking photos at a speed of 6 frames per second and recording video in 1080p / 30fps or 720p / 60fps formats. Large aperture (F2,4) and a special processor help to get great pictures in low-light conditions.

In addition, the PadFone 2 and PadFone 2 Station use SonicMaster audio technology, which provides high quality sound. Specialists from Waves Audio, owners of the Technical GRAMMY award, took part in its implementation. Also in PadFone 2 there is a special software utility that changes the sound settings, optimizing it for a specific application.

With built-in memory of up to 64 GB and offering free 2-year access to the cloud storage of ASUS WebStorage files of 50 GB, PadFone 2 provides enough space to store files. Using PadFone 2 in conjunction with the PadFone 2 Station docking station does not require synchronization, since all data is always in the memory of the smartphone. In addition, the smartphone and docking station use one SIM card and one data plan, supporting data rates of up to 42 Mbit / s in DC-HSPA + networks and up to 100 Mbit / s in LTE networks. Data exchange with other mobile devices can be carried out using NFC technology.

Especially for PadFone 2, a new version of the SuperNote application was developed, which instantly converts handwritten notes into editable text, and the Instant Translation function will help to translate any phrase in an email or on a web page from one language to another.

In addition, the upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be received by all ASUS devices that are currently running on Android 4.0. Of course, Padfone 2 will also be with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.



The complete set of ASUS PadFone 2 will be available from November 27, 2012 in such retail stores of household appliances and electronics as M.Video, Eldorado, Svyaznoy, DNS, as well as in all ASUS brand stores in Moscow.

The recommended retail price for a version with 64 gigabytes of memory will be 34,990 rubles.
