Red Hat has made its Enterprise Linux OS available on demand by
releasing it for the
Amazon EC2 online service, which allows you to rent servers with the right software and resources for the right time.
Now Red Hat Enterprise Linux on Amazon EC2 is in beta testing, but should be publicly available by the end of this year. The service will cost $ 19 per month for each user, or $ 0.21, $ 0.53 or $ 0.94 per hour of use of each computer, depending on traffic, channel width and file storage size.
Red Hat also released a new OS for providing independent vendor software and introduced Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 with improved virtualization tools. The company says that Enterprise Linux 5.1 supports virtual guest Windows XP, Server 2000, Server 2003 and Windows 2008 beta.
