MTS is ready to close i-mode

Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS) has buried the hope of recouping the i-mode Internet project launched into commercial operation almost a year ago.

As ComNews told a source at MTS the other day, the i-mode project was written off at a loss about a month ago. In the company's press service, the parting with i-mode declined to comment on this wording, calling it incorrect, but agreed to tell you more about what the situation with the i-mode service is now

In MTS, in particular, recognize that the project did not meet expectations. “We were counting on big sales. The main reason, in our opinion, is the lack of interesting advanced phone models that support i-mode , ”says Stanislav Fedulov, director of public relations at MTS. MTS does not plan to develop i-mode , but it is not going to close the service as long as there are subscribers who use it.
