WiFi: who is to blame: Windows 8 or Intel

After the release of Windows 8, I, like many, bought a license for my Dell Vostro laptop.
I quickly got used to the interface and I really liked it. Except for one: from time to time there were freezes that were not related to any programs. The war was a life and death. Long tests, a bunch of solutions found - nothing helped. Even the official appeal in support of Microsoft did not give any solution.

The laptop hangs in three forms:
1) The interface works, more precisely, the mouse crawls and shows the edging on the buttons. However, any actions lead to software freezes.
2) The screen does not wake up - shows black after opening the lid.
3) After the passage of the Windows logo when booting the system from hibernation or hibernation, the system freezes as on option 2.

In all cases, the hard disk indicator stops blinking altogether.

When the hangs became very indecent and at the wrong time I was ready to roll back to Windows 7, because there was no such problem ...

But first I decided to conduct a series of experiments.

Each time, after each hangup, I turned off one device.

I tried many things, starting from disabling the dual-core processor emulation and ending with the usual Bluetooth (which I did not use in principle).
The last thing I guessed was WiFi from Intel.

Four days, normal flight. Not a single hang. Quiet way out of hibernation and sleep mode. Work with wires ...

The insight did not come immediately. And yesterday I got to study the problem on the Intel site ...

Windows 8 does not support Intel ProSet - creating, editing, and deleting WiFi profiles. What is convenient. When updating Windows 7 to the eight, everyone has the requirement to remove this application.
It's a shame, annoying, but okay ...

But later problems arise because ... Intel has not released drivers for Windows 8 for its WiFi cards embedded in the laptop.
Even on the Intel site, if there are drivers indicating that they are supposedly suitable for Windows 8, then you cannot select Windows 8 in the list of operating systems.

Solution to this problem? Disassemble the laptop and insert a card from another manufacturer, or use an external WiFi card, or a wire, as I did.
It is a pity that the laptop turns into a semi-hospital, however, it allows you to continue to work under Windows 8 and wait for the patch to solve the problem.
