As part of Qt Developer Days by Digia, which has been fully responsible for the Qt Framework since September 2012, a number of ambitious product development challenges have been identified. Digia's senior vice president Tommi Laitinen and Qt Digia's head and Qt Project Lars Knoll outlined a strategy and plan of action to make Qt the world's leading cross-platform development environment for five years. In his presentation, Tommi Laitinen showed the core values on which the Digia Qt strategy is based:
# 1 in multi-platform support
# 1 in collaboration with the developer
# 1 in creating a great user experience (UX)
We remain true to the dual licensing model (opensource and commercial)
Recognizing the tremendous value of the ecosystem (community) of developers
The main idea that Digia adheres to is to make Qt not only the most effective and useful framework for cross-platform development, but also a tool that will provide the best interaction experience for both developers and end users. ')
At the heart of this plan is a new open business structure paired with open source Qt and dual licensing models. All this will be supported by the Qt ecosystem, which has a beneficial effect on the entire Qt community and the Qt Project, investing resources in continuous product development.
Tommi Laitinen said: “We are very pleased to present a new Qt strategy. The IT industry is undergoing rapid change, especially when it comes to developing user interfaces and user interaction. Qt aims to fill gaps in the market and provide developers with a single set of tools to conquer all platforms and applications. ”
