On July 19, at 15 o'clock in the afternoon, a significant part of Petersburg Internet users stopped loading foreign sites and a significant part of Russian ones. The culprit of the problem was the Finnish bulldozer who accidentally moved the cable of Song company in the city of Lappeenranta, reports Cnews .
As a result, the work of St. Petersburg companies whose traffic to Europe goes through the Song operator - Ekvant, Eltel, the federal university computer network of Russia RUNNet, as well as providers and home networks connected to the communication channels of these operators has been disrupted.
The main way to solve the problem for all affected operators was the transition to backup channels, with the result that for their customers the lack of Internet was short-lived.
