Buildy: HTML5 sandbox for adults

Buildy is a multiplayer online game in which you can build anything, without any specific goal, just like that. This is a three-dimensional isometric world in which you can use ready-made objects from the library (there are more than four and a half thousand of them!) Or draw your own in the editor. The game has a chat, with which you can coordinate your actions with other players. In addition to Goon World III, which is common to all of the world, in which all new players fall by default, you can create your own private sites, access to which is possible only by invite.



A week ago, Buildy was written on Hacker News, and the audience there already managed to set up so many different things in the sandbox that the creators of the game even opened a “travel company” - a guidebook that would contain links to the most interesting places in the toy town. Now the world of Goon World III consists of more than 250,000 objects, including a cemetery, an amusement park, a chessboard with animals and garden scarecrows in the role of figures, a disco for zombies and much more.

The rendering of the game world is based on HTML Canvas, fragments of the world for display on a small scale, “from a bird's-eye view,” are periodically rendered on the server using PhantomJS , the chat uses the Firebase service. The server part is Python, MySQL and MongoDB.
