Yesterday, 11/14/12, the valiant installers of one of the Russian providers (Akado Telecom), mistakenly cut two segments of fiber optic cables, which disrupted communication channels with civilian satellites and the Russian segment of the ISS. Communication with satellites was restored via backup channels, and American communications are used to transmit commands to the ISS.
