What are the 100,000 stars

The developers of the Google Data Arts Team as part of the Chrome Experiments project created a beautiful demo of “100,000 stars” , which shows the real location of more than 100,000 surrounding stars relative to the Sun. Used technologies: WebGL, CSS3D, Web Audio.

By default, the map is centered on the sun. If you bring it closer, you can see captions for 87 main stars. The map can be centered on each of them, and rotated in any plane.

The general view of the galaxy is made in artistic form, and the coordinates of the stars are imported from the astronomical database HYG .
