Cray Titan - the most powerful supercomputer of our time

Not so long ago, the leader of the supercomputer rating was Sequoia , created by the efforts of IBM. Now, the most powerful supercomputer in the world, according to the Top500.org list, is Cray Titan , which was recently launched and located in Oakridge National Physics Laboratory in Tennessee.

The Cray Titan supercomputer has a performance of 17.59 petaflops / sec, which is more than the previous “champion,” Sequoia. The ex-leader shows a result of 16.32 petaflops / sec. The peak performance of Cray Titan, theoretical, is 27.11 petaflops / sec. It should be noted that Cray Titan was created using a hybrid architecture, multi-threaded nVidia graphics chips and traditional x86 processors.
