Samsung Electronics has increased by 20% the cost of mobile processors, which it sells to Apple for iPhone and iPad devices,
according to MarketWatch, citing informed sources. After receiving a Samsung offer to raise prices, Apple first rejected the new conditions, but could not find an alternative supplier, so she had to agree. Calculations for new prices have already begun.
The contract for the supply of processors concluded until 2014. Samsung also sells Apple Flash, DRAM and displays. Last year, Apple purchased components for $ 9.2 billion.
The reason for the increase in prices for processors is not known, but based on the projected supply volume of about 130 million processors this year and more than 200 million next year, Samsung may receive almost $ 1 billion in additional profits.
