Alexander Shokhin: TV will be forced to diversify the flow of information

Alexander Shokhin, president of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), in an online interview with Gazeta.ru, said that he considered the “uniformity” of news on Russian television channels to be even convenient in a sense. He noted, however, that with the development of high technologies - digital TV, in particular - the monotonous information releases may come to an end. “While increasing the influence of electronic media and expanding access to digital television, traditional channels will be forced (apparently after 2008) to diversify the flow of information and fight for the consumer,” said the head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

Shokhin also said that the RSPP established a commission on the information society and information technology. In addition, the project “Ocifrim Russia” has been developed, which Shokhin himself considers a good program for a presidential candidate, “especially if he is Putin”. In his opinion, the current president has every opportunity to launch this project now, and to implement for the presidential elections in 2012, in which, according to the Constitution, he has the right to participate.
