Google bought the world's shortest domain

To make it easier for Chinese users to access their popular service, the search giant Google bought the world's shortest domain name, G.cn.

Most domain names with one letter and one digit are reserved by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority). Therefore, the shortest name, which could later become more popular acquired, could be the domain g.com. But, unfortunately Google, this name is also assigned to the aforementioned organization.

However, there are a number of cases that can serve as a clear example of the exception to the rules: Z.com is owned by Nissan, Q.com is purchased by Qwest, and X.com is at the disposal of PayPal.

According to The Inquirer, a few years ago there were offers to sell one-letter names from the auction, but over time this idea went "nowhere."
