DNJournal first published a list of the largest sales of domain names in the history of the Internet. It includes transactions for the sale of domains from 2003 to the present. If new million transactions are recorded, the list will be updated.
DNJournal notes that the company started tracking domain sale transactions and checking information about them only at the end of 2003, therefore domains sold before this time were not included in the rating. There are big doubts about the truth of the information about the deals of that time, because at that time it was not checked in any way, and many announced the sensational prices of buying or selling a particular domain in order to promote their website or increase the value of a keyword. Also, many transactions of that time were not cash sales: it could be an exchange with a surcharge, in which the stated price was paid only partially.
Also note that the list includes only the sale of domains in its pure form, and not Internet projects or entire companies, along with the domains registered in its name.
