And again, as part of the overall price cuts, RDS MySQL and Oracle have become cheaper by an average of 14% in the On-Demand tariff plans. Also, the price of ElastiCache On-Demand has been reduced by 16%. M1 DB and m1 Cache instances are available at a lower price in two regions in the USA - Oregon and Virginia - from November 1, 2012.
Also 2 new types of instans for RDS were announced.
DB.M1.Medium
In all regions, servers of a new type, m1.medium, have become available for MySQL, SQL Server and Oracle. Something in between Small and Large, when one is too small and the other is too much. We already had time to feel the delights of the Medium instances in EC2, finally they appeared in the RDS.

DB.M1.XLarge
New RDS types for SQL Server and Oracle are available in all regions. The most powerful instance of the standard types gives a balance of memory-processor, and if you use accelerated media, you can squeeze out very good performance indicators from the server.
