Microsoft officially: Skype will replace Messenger

image

After the acquisition of Skype by Microsoft, the company and analysts were guessing who would eventually be Skype or the native Messenge, it’s not logical to support both. But on November 6, Microsoft officially confirmed that Skype will replace Messenger in all countries of the world in the first quarter of 2013 (with the exception of China, where Messenger will still be available).
It can be concluded that the Skype brand won the Messenger, which has been grown for 12 years by its own efforts. Combining these products will provide an opportunity to create and develop a unified seamless communication infrastructure. The increase in the number of Skype users due to the transition of Messenger users will make Skype a uniform standard of communication, to which competitors will be almost impossible to get close to. Microsoft is deeply rooted in IM and VoIP communication.

In addition, in the corporate segment, the proposed Microsoft Lync 2013 gets a huge plus in the form of a connector with Skype, combining the corporate segment with the user segment. This connector has no competitor in the segment of Unified communication. Biting Cisco elbows began after the acquisition last year, now it's the turn for more active actions of the UC market leader.
