Kaspersky Lab announces the release of a new software package, Kaspersky Mail Gateway 5.5 for Linux / FreeBSD. For the first time, the protection system combines the functions of anti-virus processing of mail traffic and filtering unwanted correspondence.
Kaspersky Mail Gateway is designed for comprehensive processing of SMTP traffic passing through it. In addition to effective protection against malicious programs, the development of Kaspersky Lab combines a set of such important functions as mail traffic routing and spam protection. The program implements a full-fledged mail router running Linux operating systems, FreeBSD. The functional component of the product also helps prevent unauthorized access to the postal system.
The spam filtering mechanism in Kaspersky Mail Gateway 5.5 is implemented using SpamTest technology. The application scans email traffic for spam using a method in which a letter is checked against samples of unwanted messages in the anti-spam database of Kaspersky Lab. At the same time, spam recognition is possible even if the letter has been modified to deceive the spam filters.
