MySpace and Google have
released a press release that confirmed the rumors that the social network owned by News Corporation will become part of the
Google OpenSocial platform, which is a set of tools for creating applications for various sites.
In addition, the release presented a complete list of OpenSocial initial partners: Engage.com, Friendster, Hi5, Hyves, Imeem, LinkedIn, Ning, Oracle, Orkut, Plaxo, Salesforce.com, Six Apart (parent company TypePad, Movable Type, LiveJournal and Vox), Tianji, Viadeo and Xing.
But of all the voiced partners, MySpace stands out and is more important. This, of course, applies to global proportions, since in Russia more weight, obviously, has LiveJournal.
“As the most visited site in the United States and the most famous social network in the world, MySpace is one of the leading forces in the global social web,” said Google executive director Eric Schmidt in a release. “We are overwhelmingly excited about the development of our strategic agreement with MySpace, that is, uniting our forces in this important initiative.” Recall that now between MySpace and Google is an agreement, according to which the latter is a provider of advertising and provides search queries of the site.
