American "pirate" will pay $ 1.5 million for 10 films laid out

In the US, as is known, the so-called "pirates" have the hardest. Then for a few downloaded mp3 files a single mother has to pay almost a hundred million dollars, then a pensioner who has uploaded a favorite movie to a file sharing service has to pay a couple hundred thousand dollars. According to torrentfreak, since the beginning of 2010, in one way or another (in court, of course) hundreds of thousands of people have been punished who have uploaded or downloaded any files protected by copyright. Recently, a long list of such cases has been added to another. For the fact that a certain Kiven Fisher posted 10 movies on the Web, he will now have to pay $ 1.5 million.

The "pirate" himself bought the films perfectly legitimate, he bought them on the company's website, which works in the xxx genre. Each copy of the film of this company is provided with an identifier, which made it possible to identify the "pirate". Each user who registers on the site to buy a film is assigned a unique code that is embedded in the film itself. Therefore, to find the violator was not very difficult. Probably, after the discovery of films on the torrent server, several minutes passed before the fact that the user posted them was identified.

As in most cases, when buying a movie, the user was shown a user agreement, which prohibited copying of the movie for any purpose.

The trial against Fisher began in 2011, and his lawyers tried to pull out his client. But nothing happened. The guys from the manufacturer of the films calculated that the films laid out by Fisher were downloaded 3449 times, and for each fact of the race the “pirate” would have to pay $ 435. It turns out about 150 thousand for the movie.

It may well be that in the United States it will be a precedent for a similar final similar trials.
