All of us in one degree or another dealt with random variables (CB). The random value is the temperature of the air outside the window, the growth of a person taken at random, and the number of decaying atoms in a given volume of radioactive substance. Many CBs are well described, their numerical characteristics and distribution laws are found. But as it is not difficult to see, they are all “from the physical world,” that is, often (but not always) between the term random variable and the physical quantity, you can put an equal sign.

It was then that the question arose: “What about random variables that are generated by consciousness that are taken from the head?”

That's why I decided to conduct this small experiment, the purpose of which is to look at the nature of the distribution of relative frequencies of “favorite numbers from 0 to 100”. In general, I am interested in a few more points, but I will mention them only when this survey is completed (for the sake of purity of the experiment).

As soon as enough answers are typed, I’ll publish the results.

UPD: Thanks to everyone who voted! A total of 2104 responses were collected and now there is an opportunity to look at the distribution.

In absolute leaders, the number is 42 (who would have thought?), Followed by such “magic” numbers as 7 and 13. Interestingly, of all the respondents, no one chose the numbers 40 and 95.

What conclusions can be made? This random variable most often takes on sacred values ​​for a given community and is unlikely to obey any of the known laws of distribution.
