Beta testing "Freelance"
Hello! As you can see from the cardiogram on the banner, the project came to life: today we launched Freelance - our presentation of the service for freelancers and customers.
There are quite a lot of services for remote work, but almost all of them are united by one thing - they are very complex. Sometimes it is difficult not only to place an order, but simply to register and fill out a questionnaire. User profiles do not look like profiles, but as product descriptions on store shelves. We decided to go the other way - to make the service as simple as possible. The most simple service for the fastest communication between customers and performers. At the same time, we did not try to “kill” any external services (as many have decided on coinciding circumstances) - a similar service had been brewing for a long time. Probably, you and without us noticed earlier that small non-core pieces are gradually sawn off from Habrakhabr and turn into separate projects ( .toster , hunthim , freelance ). And all so that Habr does not turn into a “food processor” and still remains the most hardcore IT resource.
Someone says that the service was released “raw” (by the way, it is really launched in beta testing mode), saying that there is no portfolio, or even personal messages. For many, this is a kind of shock, especially against the background of existing projects. But we tried to get rid of it as well - most freelancers have already formed a portfolio for a long time, so why fill it up again? Why invent personal messages if it is faster and more convenient through the contact details provided in the profile, which both parties are guaranteed to use?

Rating users either. Because even our experience on “Habra” has shown that the formula for an objective rating has been bearing for years and can be more or less representative only in a closed community; in the open - and "Freelance" will be open - you can wind up anything, without putting special effort. And does he need this rating? While we decided that no. There are only customers and there are freelancers - if someone from the freelancers wants to make himself more visible to customers, he can do it as much as he sees fit. The same applies to customers with their orders for freelancers. Pay as you go.
There are no complicated mechanisms for detecting unscrupulous users. The customer and the freelancer without unnecessary intermediaries discuss all the circumstances of cooperation personally and decide for themselves how to conduct the transaction. Our task is to help them find each other.
Another "working moment" - feedback. If you enter current orders (of which there are few, but they are slowly appearing), you will see that there are no responses in them. But this does not mean that they really do not exist - only a counter is displayed instead of them, but the responses themselves are visible only to the customer. We did this so that all freelancers work independently of each other and put forward their proposals based on our own experience, rather than dumping the proposals of colleagues. Yes, and the "great freelancers" with many years of experience now can also participate.
