A series of quests Myst can rightly be called a cult. There are many fan communities whose members carefully collect and analyze all information on the history, mythology and culture of the Myst worlds. Some go even further ...
Moving between the worlds in the games of this series takes place with the help of special books and portals (eng. Linking Book ). Mike Ando (Mike Ando, aka Rium +) made a copy of such a book in the real world. It looks exactly the same as the original from the game, and it works like the one who opened the book is transferred to the world of Myst.
Appearance
For the manufacture of the artifact was found exactly the same book, which was at one time scanned in the studio Cyan to create textures of the game. It turned out to be “Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Vol.LIV, Issue 312, December 1876 to May 1877 . To put a new headline on the binding, stamps were made for embossing in the form of letters "MYST". Squeezed on the cover and on the spine of the letters were covered with real 24-carat gold.

It's time to look at the insides. Yes, Mike actually gutted a book, which is 135 years old! Inside the book is hidden full-fledged computer with independent power supply and passive cooling. Here are its specifications:
5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 640x480. The screen is equipped with a resistive touch sensor.
Power supply: lithium-ion battery and voltage converter (10.8V -> 5V, 12V). A full battery lasts for 1.5-2 hours of work.
The system dissipates about 12 W of heat, cooling is completely passive. In a closed binding, the temperature of the CPU and GPU is about 48 ° C.
