Linus Torvalds offers 2560x1600 as a new standard for laptops

Linus Torvalds made a request in his blog to laptop manufacturers to make 2560x1600 standard resolution , starting with 11-inch devices.

Linus says that such permission is even on tablets for $ 399. He asks laptop manufacturers not to use marketing words like “retina”, but honestly call 2560x1600 “an acceptable resolution”.

“The fact that laptops were stuck in development ten years ago (and even regression is visible, in many cases) at about half of these pixels in width and height is very sad,” writes Linus Torvalds. “I don't need large portable laptops, but these 1366x768 are so archaic.” Lord, even mobile phones will soon begin to scoff at so ridiculously bad laptop screens. ”
