Free WiFi traffic

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), in collaboration with nine other public organizations, announced the launch of Open Wireless Movement , a movement for free WiFi. Activists urge everyone to open access points and assign them an identifier openwireless.org .

The transition to free WiFi means more efficient use of network channels, better protection of users' privacy (it is harder to track them by IP address), an incentive for economic and social development of society.

The Open Wireless Movement website contains help articles on how to open your WiFi for everyone, and there is also a list of Internet service providers that encourage users to open access points.

Additionally, information has been published on the site to dispel typical myths about open WiFi:

• What free hotspots attract fans of "freebies".
• That open WiFi support poses a risk to your security.
• That the owner of an open WiFi is responsible for illegal activities committed using its equipment.
• That after opening WiFi you will slow down the speed of work on the Internet.
