Unambiguous Layout Switch

So what is the problem with the usual ways to switch layouts? The fact that they were made according to the residual principle needed a way to switch, and the 101-key keyboard was already standard. For English speaking problems, of course not. But everyone else had to learn Shift-Ctrl.
When it is possible not to comply with the standards, there is no problem - add the button RUS-LAT, and the problem is solved:

And what about the rest?

In my opinion, the standard way is a bunch of flaws. This and the need to press two buttons simultaneously, and two options - Shift + Alt and Shift + Ctrl. The most unpleasant thing is that it is necessary to KNOW the layout BEFORE the switch, otherwise it will not work - the combination changes the layout depending on the current one.

Okay, let's say we solve the first problem - hang up the switching of the layout on CAPS LOCK, it is not used anyway.
For Windows, you can use a wagon of various utilities, for example, Punto, which in addition to automatic switching can reassign combinations for switching layouts.

For Mac OS there is a wonderful Lipton layout, which not only makes it possible to switch the layout on the capsule, but also leaves the light bulb active, which is now an indicator of the input of Russian letters:

But still it is not that. Yes, it is much easier to look at a light bulb than in a tray, it can be seen even with lateral vision, at the “lit — not lit” level, but the main problem is preserved - to switch to the required layout we still need to know its current state.

The solution is to use several buttons, each one for its own layout. Yes, yes, like this:

')
For Windows, this can be done using the same Punto Switcher:

For Mac OS, the KeyRemap4MacBook program:

The result of all this should be the option of work - when typing in another language, you just need to press the right or left Ctrl (or Cmd), regardless of which layout was previously included. For me, such a scenario is much more convenient than switching over capsules with which I lived for more than 5 years.

Very interesting topic in the sandbox with the same ideas.
