Microsoft has
started beta testing its free web analytics service, codenamed Project Gatineau. Invitations were sent to some American advertisers, and other American advertisers can
request an invitation on their own - though, as Ian Thomas, a development planner at Gatineau, says, you will have to wait a fair amount of time.
In his blog "
Lies, Damned Lies ... " Thomas writes on this subject the following:
If you asked for an invitation, you will be added to the list and receive it in due time - but remember that some people have been in line since January, so please be patient as we slowly add users; There is no need to remind us that you are waiting for an invitation.
Thomas provides
some information about the initial features and reports included in Gatineau. This includes demographic segmentation, user taxonomy, external reports, tracking outgoing links, internal referrals, marketing reports, goals analysis ...
Gatineau has been in alpha for about a year and was developed using Canadian web analytics provider DeepMetrix technology, which Microsoft acquired in May 2006.
