ZDNet published an article (in fact, it was Adrian Kingsley-Hugh's blog ...), in which the author claims that he is aware of the "achievements" of Apple. True, he does not believe in them too much and does not consider them significant.
1. Why Apple Windows? (short retelling)
According to the author of the article, everything is fine with Apple, but somehow wrong. Apple has too little market share. Dell and HP, and now Acer + Gateway (the first company “swallowed” the second, and they moved Apple from third to fourth place together), produce and sell much more pieces of equipment.
In order to increase (sharply and radically) its presence in the market, Apple, according to the author, must ... sell not only Macs with Mac OS X, but also Macs with Windows. As Windows is better known and more popular, Apple’s sales will immediately increase.
And in order to fend off possible objections, the author (with a good-natured smile and clarity in his gaze) says that he is aware of Apple’s latest achievements - but not at all amazed or inspired by them. All this is nothing more than the result of the triumphant success of the iPod.
And all in the same vein: Macs de computers are wonderful, and if they have an operating system like people, and not some kind of proprietary and unknown to anyone - they could be sold with much larger circulations.
About “proprietary” Mac OS X has already been written so much. For our current reasoning, the openness or closeness of Mac OS X and Windows are absolutely indifferent.
Bye for now. For the time being, we will take as the truth that Windows is based on open and detailed published technologies, and Mac OS X, for all its rather big depth, is mysterious, unknown and hidden from inquisitive minds. In fact, the opposite is true - but about this some other time.
Will Macs with Windows increase Mac sales? Who will provide technical support for this widespread system - Apple?
