Skype 6.0 for desktop Windows and Mac

Skype has just announced a new version of Skype client, Skype for Desktop , which has combined two new releases:
Skype 6.0 for Windows - release 6.0.0.120
Skype 6.0 for Mac - release 6.0.0.2946



Skype for Desktop has been allocated in a separate division due to the rapid development of the recent Skype versions for smartphones and tablet PCs. In the near future, Skype for Windows 8 is expected to be released, which will be integrated into the new operating system.

Among the new features of Skype 6.0 for the desktop:
- Integration with Microsoft and Facebook. Now you can log in to Skype using your Microsoft and Facebook account and start chatting right away. No more need to register with Skype.
- Text chat with users of Windows Live Messenger, Hotmail and Outlook.com directly from Skype.

Among the innovations for Skype 6.0 for Windows Desktop:
- Skype is localized in six other languages, among them: Thai, Croatian, Slovenian, Serbian, Catalan and Slovak.
- New user interface
- Removed counter online users - the developers decided that this element is not so important
- History of profile photos
- Improved telemetry.

What's new in Skype 6.0 for Mac Desktop:
- Ability to open chats in separate windows
- Retina display support
