And we are not talking about all sorts of robots, vacuum cleaners or robots, waiters, but about technologically sophisticated toys that perform mainly entertainment functions.
The first attempts to create such robots have already been made, for example, by Sony, which released the dog Aibo. However, the toy did not achieve global popularity, and the project itself was recently closed. However, according to the well-known proverb, the “holy place” was not empty for a long time and was occupied by the American company UGOBE, which presented the Pleo dinosaur robot. One and this office of the mountains has not yet turned off. Nevertheless, attempts to present a toy of the future are undertaken by many other companies, one of which has many chances for success, since it promises to sell its wonderful toy for only 200-300 dollars. The name of this company is Hanson Robotics. Just recently, its representatives staged a demonstration of their offspring - a humanoid robot called Zeno, created as part of the RoboKind project.
If you believe David Hanson (David Hanson), the main inspirer and author of the project, Zeno will differ markedly from other similar toys not only in a more attractive price tag, but also in a lower degree of “scripted”. In other words, it will be possible to interact with the toy on a qualitatively different level. To this end, Mr. Henson joined the New Zealand software firm Massive Software, which specializes in creating artificial intelligence, to work on the project. The appearance of Zeno on sale is expected no earlier than 2009, but for now the company only demonstrates a working prototype , which, however, does not make a strong impression.
