Some old Habra still remember my post “
Do you want coworking in Thailand? ". For 3 years, big and interesting changes have taken place in Chiang Mai: here a critical mass of initiative Russian IT specialists appeared who are eager for change.
Recently, in Chiang Mai, the Russians organized the CNX Business Club, a non-profit organization that unselfishly helps IT & Media specialists to settle in a city that claims to be one of the IT centers in Southeast Asia. I'll tell you in more detail than the attractive city.
')
It is comfortable here:
- adequate neighbors
- fresh food
- 10Mbps
- 300 sunny days a year
- have the opportunity to be in the fresh air at any time and not leave this place without special need, without interrupting production
- can ride
an open top motorbike
And:
- safe (both for life and for a wallet)
- there is quality and affordable medicine
- there is electricity (99.997% uptime)
- there is gas
- eat clean drinking water
- hot water without shutdowns :)
For creative techno-personalities, there is at least an easily accessible effective infrastructure that facilitates life:
- 3G + mobile internet
- a dozen and a half Apple Store, evenly distributed over the landscape of 3 pieces per sq. km.
- convenience stores and ready meal delivery
- choice of restaurants and bars of various specifics within walking distance
- the ability to change the "picture" without making efforts (for example, to drive to the sea for the weekend to think)
- exceptionally polite and well educated staff even in the most inaccessible places
In order not to be cold, the city is successfully located in a mountain valley on the 18th parallel of the Northern Hemisphere, at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. So that it is not noisy - only 150,000 people inhabit it. To avoid it being hot there include partly cloudy.
In order not to be bored - during the day you can use any of the 20 air flights to the coast.
And in the city there are 3 universities, 2 polytechnic institutes, 3 specialized colleges, several dozen high schools and language schools, and some monstrous number of art workshops, galleries and art cafes with free WiFi. For a weekend, there are several mountain lakes with Scandinavian landscapes, tropical waterfalls with clear water (from the sanitary-epidemiological point of view), hot springs and a dozen and a half golf courses where the price starts from $ 30 for 9 holes (for beginners).
And yes, there is such a strange pattern here - 60% of Europeans of pre-retirement age are employed in the IT business (all the rest teach). By the way, in the central part of the city 30% of the population are from Europe or their descendants.
Technical parameters of accommodation:
- 3 bedroom house (150 sq.m.) - from $ 400 per month.
- separately paid light, Internet, water, utilities - $ 100 On the territory of the village there is a pool, restaurant, tennis courts, a gym.
- 5-10 minutes away - 5 large shopping centers (like “Mega” or “Ramstore”).
- from $ 50 for two (with dinner in a good restaurant)
- from $ 20 for two (with dinner in a regular restaurant)
Visa:
- without a visa - 1 month (only for Russians, for free, unlimited number of stamps)

- student visa - from 1 year with the possibility of extension without leaving the country for 6 years (from $ 700 per year)
- business visa - for 1 year with the possibility of extension without leaving the country ($ 2500 per legal entity once + $ 65 per visa per year and payment to a lawyer / accountant for doing business)
- work visa - for 1 year with the possibility of extension (many options)
Ticket to the sea (as a sudden desire):
$ 60 one way on average (prices from $ 20 to $ 300 depending on the class and airline).
