Template videos: how we optimized the video production process and achieved the price of $ 300 per video
Hello!
Do you know how much an advertising promotional video costs for a program, online service or website? Depending on the artist, prices vary widely - from $ 1,000-2,000 to $ 10,000 per couple of minutes of video.
Obviously, for small products or just start-up start-ups, an amount of even $ 1000 can be overwhelming. As a result, the project remains without a roller, does not receive the necessary push, and a potentially good product may die. This world is cruel, damn it. ')
In this post I will tell you about how we tried to make this world a little bit better and came up with sample videos worth only $ 300 .
So, tired of phrases like “oh, one and a half thousand for a video clip - this is a lot for us”, we set ourselves the task of making a new type of video: an inexpensive but colorful sample video presentation of the product, showing its screenshots and motivating the viewer for purchase or trial use.
We decided that inexpensive clips can only be template. Using templates will put the whole process on the conveyor, and thus great to reduce the cost of the video. As a result, using templates, we were able to optimize the most costly processes: writing a script, creating graphics, animating graphics.
Scenario
To begin, we shifted the work of creating the script on the shoulders of the customer. We made a template, filling in which, the client receives a script ready for use. In the process of filling in, the client must indicate which problems the product solves, describe its functions, and take screenshots of the product on their own.
Graphics
For our template, we drew 8 “skins” - sets of graphics that include all the elements that make up the video: background, bullets, dies for texts, font styles.
Graphic examples
To make sample clips more diverse, we added the ability to change the color gamut of each set of graphics, setting only two primary colors.
Animation
Unfortunately, automation has penetrated here the least of all :) Everything would be extremely simple if we made videos without voice acting. The duration of each scene (and hence the time of appearance / movement / transformation of objects in it) depends on the amount of speaker text. Now all the events in the video are customized to the voice of the announcer manually. But we are working in this direction. By the way, if you have interesting suggestions for solving this problem, we are always glad to meet new people;)
We hope we managed to realize what we originally wanted: to give startups and small projects an inexpensive but effective tool for promotion. With a video, it's much easier to tell about yourself than without it;)
Below are a few examples of the template clips we made. We will be grateful for constructive (not very possible, we do not take offense) criticism, comments and comments.
