European Union antitrust authorities fined
Microsoft 280.5 million euros for non-disclosure to competitors of technical information on the operation of the Windows operating system,
Interfax reported, citing a message from
Bloomberg .
“All companies must comply with the laws,” said Nili Krous, the special representative of the EU antimonopoly authority. “I had no choice but to impose a fine on the company for continued disobedience to the law.”
As previously reported, the European Commission in June 2006 ruled that Microsoft did not provide competitors with sufficient information regarding the operation of the Windows operating system on computer networks, as required by a resolution issued in March 2004.
