Uralsvyazinform launches NGN / IP services
On July 11, Alcatel announced the successful completion of acceptance tests and the commercial launch of its new generation multimedia network (NGN) solutions and IP transport backbone, delivered to the leading Russian interregional fixed and mobile operator OJSC Uralsvyazyform .
As part of a comprehensive project that has been implemented since 2004 and consists of 7 stages, Alcatel delivers its IP NGN solution to the customer. This solution will allow Uralsvyazinform to offer subscribers broadband innovative services such as Voice over IP (VoIP), video conferencing, VPN VPNs, unified messaging and advanced Internet services.
The first and second phases of the project were successfully completed in mid-2005, the implementation of the third and fourth phases was completed in December 2005 and in June 2006. Three additional phases are planned for the current year. A key requirement of Uralsvyazinform is the expansion of the project towards IMS.
