ZTE V970 Grand Smartphone Review

A month ago, on September 27, 2012, a press conference of ZTE Corporation was held in Moscow with a presentation of the ZTE Grand and Dual SIM series of smartphones. And now, as we said in the previous post, some of these new products will appear on the Ukrainian market already in the middle of November of this year. In particular, today we want to announce the smartphone ZTE V970.
We are proud of this device, which combines many advanced and innovative technologies with a stylish design, and in this post we will tell you how we can please the Ukrainian users.
ZTE V970
The appearance of the smartphone is underlined by a modern: a touch rectangular monoblock with smooth corners. The edging is made of polycarbonate, painted in dark silver color. It forms a stylish little side on the front panel. Thus, the device receives protection from damage in case the smartphone is turned upside down. The screen itself, in addition, is still protected by scratch-resistant glass.
For a 4.3-inch screen, the dimensions of the smartphone are small - 127x64.6x9.9 mm, the weight of the device is 130 grams.

The back cover is made of soft-touch plastic in dark gray and covered with small pleasant to the touch dots. The device is very good in the hand and does not slip.
On the front panel there are two sensors: lighting and proximity. The first responds quickly and fairly smoothly adjusts the backlight level of the screen. The second responds instantly as soon as you hold the phone to your ear. Next to them is the front camera (0.3 MP) for video calls. Slightly above the camera is the speaker. Its volume is above average and due to the excellent clarity of sound and a pleasant low-frequency timbre, the interlocutor can be heard clearly and quite loudly even on the street. During the conversation there is no echo and no extraneous sounds.
To the left of the speaker - the LED indicator. It blinks red if the battery is almost discharged, blinks green when skipping any events, lights up red when charging the battery, and if it is green, it charges.
Under the screen - touch buttons ("Menu", "Home", "Back", "Search"), applied to the surface with translucent white paint. The backlight is comfortable: during the day the buttons are clearly visible, but at night it does not blind your eyes.
The volume rocker key is located on the left, the microUSB connector is also located there:
The key-rocker itself is wide, of medium thickness, almost recessed into the body and is well groped with fingers:
At the top there is a standard 3.5 mm audio output for headphones, a thin and recessed on / off button and another microphone for noise reduction (built-in noise reduction provides the best sound quality when receiving calls in noisy places. The smartphone removes all other sounds during a call ):
A single flash unit, a camera module that protrudes a few millimeters and one speaker on the back. In the center of the back panel is the inscription "ZTE":
The speakerphone is one and it is located on the left and on the right is a decorative hole. The bottom of the back of the smartphone is slightly raised. There, on the bottom of the main microphone is located:

The smartphone ZTE V970 uses high-quality ASV-LCD-matrix (Advanced Super View), which was developed by Sharp. Unlike the IPS-LCD, the ASV has great contrast and viewing angles. Sensitivity is above average, fulfills up to 5 simultaneous touches.
The screen diagonal is 4.3 inches, the screen resolution is qHD, i.e. 540x960 pixels, which is a decent indicator for this class of devices. Paints juicy and clear. Overall, an excellent display, with moderate backlight brightness.

The device is equipped with a removable lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery with a capacity of 1650 mAh, 3.7 V. In moderate operation mode, there is enough phone for two days, which we should expect from this class of devices.
ZTE V970 smartphone works on Android OS 4.0.3. The smartphone has its own graphic shell ZTE - “Mifavor”. Its main feature is to simplify the execution of all basic operations. Thanks to the new interface, users will be able to perform all the usual tasks faster. In Mifavor, there are many widgets for the main screen, including a music player, time and weather reports, a calendar, a task manager. A list of favorite contacts can also be displayed on the screen. In addition, Mifavor offers a more convenient way to create folders than in the native Android OS.
We also want to note the originally implemented screen unlock.
It is called “MI Quick Access”, to unlock the screen after pressing the power button, you must touch and hold the lock icon. If you click on the lock and move it with your finger to the side, six “petals” will appear with the image of icons for quick access to applications. By default, these are “Phone”, “Sound On / Off”, “Calendar”, “E-mail”, “Camera” and “Messages”. Instead of them, if necessary, you can assign any other applications.
