Mitac Targets Super-Cheap PC Market

The relatively noticeable success of the ASUS Eee PC, which barely started its march across the planet, probably does not give rest to the management of Mitac, which is very interested in looking at the corresponding market of ultra-low-cost PCs. Obviously, not out of idle curiosity, but with the aim of finding a warm place there.

Actually, in Mitac they don’t hide it and openly talk about the agreement concluded with MIND, under which the parties will jointly participate in the production of computers in the lowest price range. And the main consumers of their future products tandem sees children aged 3 to 12 years. And considering the fact that Mitac has a lot of experience, and it’s obviously not only about children from Africa or India, Mr. Negroponte should at least think about a possible change in the strategy of the OLPC project, which on the one hand is already slightly pressed down by the presence of low cost on the market PC by ASUS Corporation.

However, analysts are inclined to believe that the winner in all this battle will still be Intel, which has invested in the projects Classmate PC, Eee PC and OLPC.
