The company
Sophos , working in the field of protecting business from computer threats,
presented the results of a study of cyber attacks of the past six months. According to these results, not many new worms and viruses appeared, but malicious codes created to steal information and money started growing.
The number of new Trojans currently corresponds to the number of other viruses and worms as 4: 1, while in the first half of 2005 the ratio was defined as 2: 1.
Looking at this rapid progression, Sophos experts have suggested that, for security reasons, it is advisable for home PC users to switch to an Apple Mac,
according to DialogueScience. “What is curious is that hackers seem to be happy to target their attacks on Windows and are not trying to master other platforms,” said Graham Cluley, Sophos’s chief technical consultant. “It looks like the Macintosh will still be safer for users for some time - this should be taken into account by those who are going to buy a new computer.”
