Last week, with the help of our Ivideon service , on hi-testing.ru, it was possible to observe the birth of chickens in real time. The guys are great lads that have managed to realize the good old tale of Nikolai Nosov. Something that many probably dreamed of as a child, but never realized when they grew up.
And now I would like to tell you about the broadcast, which, unfortunately, we do not do, but which should pay attention. ')
It remains quite a bit before Felix Baumgartner, a paratrooper and a BASE jumper from Austria, rises on a specially created balloon to a height of almost 36 kilometers and makes a step into the void! He had already become famous for his numerous colorful BASE jumps. He jumped from a statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and a skyscraper in Taipei, 101 floors high. He also became the first person to cross the English Channel in free fall using a wing made of carbon material.
His falling speed is expected to reach the speed of sound! That's what he seeks - to set a record for the speed of free fall. This event was preceded by almost a year of preparation and creation of both means of lifting to such a height and special equipment for the jump.
For me personally, as a person who made the maximum jumps from a height of 4.5 kilometers and flew down at a speed of no more than 300 km / hour, this event looks extremely exciting, difficult and undoubtedly very dangerous. Felix Baumgartner will land a hero anyway. And you can watch this event right now on the official broadcast site !
UPD: Habrapuser 5araon added that Dietrich Mateschitz, the founder and owner of Red Bull, invested more than 50 million euros in this project. And in the Austrian newspaper Österreich they wrote that about 35 seconds after the jump, Felix would break the sound barrier!
In anticipation of the broadcast, you can watch a video about Felix's previous jumps:
As beeruser correctly noted , the previous record belonged to Joseph Kittinger, who in 1960 made a jump from a height of about 30 km:
Thanks to the user dotsquid , who pointed out that our compatriot Evgeny Nikolaevich Andreev, on November 1, 1962, at the Volga stratostat, together with P. I. Dolgov, rose to a height of 25,500 meters and made a parachute jump. He climbed 24,500 meters in free fall with a maximum speed of 900 kilometers per hour. Thus he set the current world record for the height of free fall, counted by the International Aviation Federation (FAI, Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, FAI).
