NASA barely announced successful testing on the Curiosity rover of the CHIMRA instrument, designed to collect soil from the surface of Mars, as the news came - the research mission was suspended!
The CHIMRA device is located on the manipulator, it is equipped with a soil collecting bucket and a vibrator. The vibrator is needed to facilitate the movement of the soil inside the device and to facilitate the delivery of the sample to the internal scientific instruments of the rover.
After the work of the vibrator, the camera of the rover found on the surface of the object, which, most likely, is not of Martian origin.
While NASA does not understand what this item is and where it has fallen off from (no one is considering the alien origin yet), Curiosity will not budge. ')
Fortunately, the object itself is about a centimeter in size, so it’s too early to say that the rover is falling apart. Most likely it will be a piece of insulating winding of cables.
