The new user authentication system uses the unique characteristics of video cards.

Protection of user accounts of various resources is an important issue, and there is no perfect solution yet. Nevertheless, there are very original ideas on how to reliably protect such an account. Thus, the PUFFIN Project team suggests using some unique characteristics of video cards for a new user authentication system.

According to the developers, each video card has some features that allow you to talk about the uniqueness of the graphics card in any computer or laptop. This is akin to a person’s fingerprint, i.e. even with the typical creation of video cards, they get a unique set of characteristics.

It is worth noting that the development team includes such authoritative organizations as Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (Netherlands), Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany), Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), Intrinsic ID (organization whose profile is network security).

The PUFFIN Project team has created software that can identify these differences and use them for specific purposes. Now PUFFIN Project is dedicated only to the protection of accounts of various kinds of games, which, as we know, are the desired prey of various kinds of scammers. The developers claim that the introduction of this technology is a relatively simple task.

To solve the problem of playing with different computers, developers have added the ability to register several video cards for one game account at once. The project will work in the “cloud”, and, according to the promises of the authors of the idea, the PUFFIN Project is a truly new idea.

Now developers are looking for a unique set of characteristics of other parts of the PC.
