From today, AWS Marketplace supports IAM users. IAM users also have rights that allow you to buy software in the Marketplace:

Big names like CA , Canonical , Couchbase , IBM , Microsoft , SUSE , Red Hat , Riverbed , SAP , and Zend are on a par with open source solutions ( Word , Wordpress , Drupal and MediaWiki) .
I personally do not find this option very cool and useful, because I rarely use the Marketplace. But for those who still use it, this is another closed hole, so as not to give root email and password to purchase the software that is needed.
