There is a reason to refresh Morse code. Japan launches talking satellite

image

In November, a Japanese mini satellite-cube (qube-SAT) will be launched into orbit with the ISS, which will broadcast a message to the earth using a pack of ultra-bright LEDs so that a strip of text typed in Morse code will appear in the sky. It was originally planned to activate this feature only over Japan and transmit the text to “Hi this is Niwaka Japan”, however, the heightened worldwide interest in this project made its corrections and the satellite will shine throughout the orbit.

This is not the only task of the satellite. It will also transmit to the ground images in VGA resolution for testing high-speed data transfer.

Professor Takushi Tanaka (Takushi Tanaka) said that initially the function of transmitting the optical message to Morse code had no practical sense, however, it mentions that it might be a good way to transmit information about alien disasters or aliens to Earth ( I hope not useful ).

Large-scale thinking man, do not say anything. It remains to teach 7 billion, or at least 70 million people, to read Morse code. I would in its place make the interface of posting tweets to a satellite. Like "Masha, I love you # FITSAT-1 #Russia #Moscow" - it would immediately appear, if not practical, then at least a romantic meaning.
