The number of smartphones sold in 2005 in the Russian market amounted to 947 thousand units worth $ 558 million, according to a report from the analytical department of
the Division Group (Divizion trademark).
The leader in smartphone sales in 2005 was Nokia. Compared to 2004, its share increased from 76.3% to 81.4%. The sales of other vendors' smartphones were as follows: Sony Ericsson - 7.2%, Siemens - 6.4%, Motorola - 2.7% and Qtek - 1.7%.
The average retail price of a smartphone in 2005 was $ 589, which is 3.5 times more than the average price of a mobile phone in 2005, which was $ 165. Analysts of the “Division” believe that the increase in the average price of a smartphone was determined by the overall increase in replication, that is, replacement, mobile phones, an increase in the number of purchases using consumer lending services.

Analysts of the “Division” forecast that in 2006 in the Russian Federation 28 million phones will be sold (in 2005 - 31.5 million units) and 1.3 million smartphones. The share of smartphones in the total mobile phone market will increase in 2006 compared with 2005 to 4.6% from 3%.
