How I parsed Google Play

Have you ever wondered how many applications are written for android?
The system is only a few years old, but I never tried to provide order. There are hundreds of millions of users, and applications? Ten thousand? Fifty? Hundred?

What for?

So, for my needs I needed to grab a bunch of information about applications. I wanted to find out how often on average applications are updated, what size they have and so on.
The interest is purely scientific, it’s just fun to have some kind of information in yourself, and build statistics on its basis. The time was free.

How?

It's simple, download the page. We find the information we need, as well as links to other applications.
We save information, we add new links to the list of tasks.

The number of applications provided by the Russian market: 160000 .

• The average size of applications when sampling from 25.000 = 3.804M
• The largest application : 1.8G (Thanks to Utter_step , at the time of writing, the parser did not reach it)
• The smallest application : 6.0kb 5.6kb
• Longest title : 127 characters
• The shortest name : 3 characters
• Ratio of applications with size (more than 2M) / (less than 2M) : 0.549947293
• On average, applications were last updated : 300 days ago
• Live apps (with update <30 days) : 13 days ago
• Today updated : 170 applications. For September : 3696 .
• On average, updated per day: 20 applications .
