In continuation of the cycle of popular articles on Kyocera, I propose material on programs with which you can manage, configure and maintain Kyocera office devices.
Each individual application is worthy of a special article, and maybe in the future it will turn out that way, but for now - only a general overview, with a focus on users who are just starting to get acquainted with our company's products and need lightweight guidance for quick orientation among the variety of branded titles. The first part is devoted to purely users: I consider the programs in it that relate to the “consumption” of Kyocera equipment, and everything related to maintenance and configuration will be covered in the second part of the article.

(The ceramic knives in the picture do not have a relationship with the printer-scanner control programs, but they are beautiful and remind of the company's historical essence - the production of ceramics)The basis for working with the entire product line of printing devices is the Printer Driver:
For Windows:
- KX Driver PCL / KPDL / PDF (all in one, so to speak)
- Mini driver PCL or KPDL (note: KPDL = PostScript)
- Microsoft driver PCL or KPDL
In the form of PostScript Printer Description files (PPD's):
- For Windows, Macintosh and Linux printing (note: PPD's are used in OSX, Linux and Adobe applications)
KX driver is a necessary and sufficient application to start using printing. You get all the standard features, plus a few Kyocera-specific features — password protection for the printer, options for the hard disk in the printer, the creation of profiles to speed up routine tasks, and so on.
Management is concentrated in the standard Windows print panel:

Related programs that extend and facilitate the possibilities of working with the driver:
KYOnet for clients is a small user application that shows the status of the printer and your print job. In something replaces the standard status monitor windows. You will simply know what is happening with the printer and your print job.
KYOnet for Direct Printing - printing PDF documents without installing Acrobat reader.
You can:
- Combine PDF files in one task.
- Change file sequences.
- Choose a printer and print profile.
The interface is simple - specify files, settings, send to print:
Prescribe printer language - a thing for meticulous. Literally an editor in which using Prescribe programming language (from Kyocera) you can perform (or automate) tasks for a printer that cannot be performed in other applications. The language is quite simple, and after reading the manual with examples, any Habr reader will be able to command the printer.

With the base - Printer Driver and the fact that next to him, figured out, turn to scan.
Any Kyocera MFPs can:
- Scan for applications (TWAIN, WIA, WSD)
- Scan and send by e-mail
- Scan to shared folder on Samba
- Scan to FTP server
- Support LDAP (connect to the database of AD-servers)
- Scan to internal drive
- Maintain a job box for submitting jobs to applications (TWAIN, WIA, WSD)
- Save to cards and USB sticks
All these functions, of course, do not require any additional software installation and go out of the box.
For extra amenities:
File Management Utility (FMU) is an application for distributing files of scanned documents over a network.
You can specify the conditions under which the files will be sent to a particular network folder, and, of course, do this for several Kyocera MFPs. Condition - the device must have the HyPAS option. The principle of the utility is to monitor the appearance of files in a specific specified folder, and shift them in accordance with the rules you specify.
PANELPLUS - this application is much closer to the "hardware" (or rather, inside it) and is a solution based on HyPAS for operating panels of devices. Allows you to use the buttons run tasks to scan their own making.
It looks like this:

If you often perform any tasks of the same type, it is convenient to set up a button that allows you to run them in one click, rather than typing repeating parameters each time.
The Panel Plus Designer application is used to “manufacture” the buttons:
Panel Plus Designer - how the program is installed on the computer, in it, with the convenience, you create the task you need in the form of a visual workflow. The resulting “design.xpp”, import to the MFP (from a USB flash drive) and see the necessary button on the device panel.
(To work with PPD you need java, JRE 6.0 or newer)
KYOcapture is a complete control over the scanning process, a desktop application, the essence of which is best expressed by this screenshot:

Using the program, you can configure any scanning processes and sequence of work with scans - scan paper or electronic documents, name them according to the necessary rules, send simultaneously to several storages, perform operations in conjunction with HyPAS, etc.
An example of capturing documents from Outlook (as an illustration of the ease of working with the application):

The components that KYOcapture can work with are divided into three main categories:
- Capture and receive files - “Capture” (examples: Kyocera MFP, POP3 e-mail, AutoCapture, etc.)
- Processing and indexing - “Process” (examples: ABBYY Fine Reader OCR, PDF Converter, JScript, Send to Database, XML Generator, etc.)
- Transfer and storage - “Route” (examples: WebDAV Route, MS Exchange, LAN Fax, SharePoint, etc.)
The number of components is measured in dozens and is growing steadily.
For clarity, I have an advertising diagram demonstrating the principle of KYOcapture - we take it from anywhere, process it and send it anywhere:

With user applications, for now. (You can add a mobile client application for Android to the list, which has been awarded a
separate article on Habré )
In the following material, I promise to make the same quick description of the utilities that will be useful to administrators of networks that include Kyocera office devices.
