The first conference of Russian Wikipedia will be held in St. Petersburg
On October 27-28, 2007, the first Wikisource Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects in Russian will be held in St. Petersburg. The event will be held on the basis of St. Petersburg State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (St. Petersburg State University ITMO).
The conference will be attended by about 100 people involved in editing articles in Wikipedia and other related projects: Wiktionary , Wikitatnik , Wikimedia Commons . Participants are expected to arrive from cities of Russia, from abroad, as well as representatives of Wikipedia sections in other languages: Ukrainian, Belarusian, Chuvash, Ossetian, etc.
On the first day of the conference, video greetings from active Wikipedia participants will be shown, a press conference will be held, and reports will be heard on topical issues of project development.

On the second day, several round tables will be organized, some of which will be devoted to “intravikipediynyh” issues: on the content and technology of Wikipedia, on interaction in the community of authors, rules, guidelines and copyright. There will also be a group of thematic round tables: on St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, on the mathematical, biological, historical and other sections of Wikipedia, on the interaction of Wikipedia and the scientific community, the role and place of the world's largest encyclopedia in modern education.
