Report from the presentation of Samsung GALAXY Note II

Yesterday, a significant event was held at the Samsung shopping gallery located on Tverskaya 22: the presentation of the second version of a non-standard smartphone for business people and those who love to create - GALAXY Note II. Guests of the event had the opportunity to test samples of the new device (and not only it), listen to the fiery speech of representatives of the international IT giant and absorb the atmosphere of high technology, modern design and installations.

My colleague and I arrived at the site in advance; we managed to take some pictures of the presented devices and accessories to them.

At 13.00 the presentation started. The first guests to speak were Jan Sang Ho, President of Samsung Electronics Headquarters for CIS countries.



“Last year we introduced the Samsung GALAXY Note, which created a new category of smart mobile devices. In less than a year, sales of the device exceeded 10 million units. The new GALAXY Note II has a number of revolutionary features: an improved S Pen, extensive capabilities for creative work, as well as AllShare Play and AllShare Cast data transfer functions, ”said Jan Sang Ho.

After him, Alexey Dorofeev, Head of Mobile Devices, Samsung Electronics RUS, spoke about GALAXY Note II in more detail.



Of the most important thing that has changed in comparison with the device of the first generation:

The smartphone has got a bigger screen (5.55 inches of excellent HD Super AMOLED versus 5.3 in the previous version). It did not affect the dimensions - the screen took up almost the entire front surface, and is now limited to only a thin frame on the sides. Due to the more elongated display, the aspect ratio changed: 16: 9, 1280x720 pixels (in the first model, the ratio was more non-standard: 16:10, 1280x800). By the way, PenTile AMOLED was replaced with a full-fledged RGB AMOLED.

A number of functions appeared designed to simplify work with several applications at the same time, thus providing improved multitasking of the smartphone:

Air View function . Allows you to view photos and pictures in fast mode (a kind of preview) without having to click on each: just point the projection point on the image.


Popup Note . If you double-click with the stylus on the screen during a telephone conversation, a pop-up note of the S Note application appears in which you can leave a note or record important information.


Quick Command . The ability to create handwritten commands and assign them certain functions (for example, you can create a command "@ bratyun" and program it to automatically ring or send a message to a friend).


The toolbox for creativity has also expanded significantly:

Easy clip . A very interesting function, with which you can cut out fragments of images from any sources and insert them into your notes, messages and e-mails, or store them in the Fragments folder.


Handwriting recognition . It is unlikely that this feature is so steep to successfully recognize the handwriting of our doctors (this is possible, except for Chuck), but even with an untidy and “slanting” handwriting, he copes very well. You can send more messages by hand by mail, and using the S Planner organizer you can make handwritten notes and save them in memory. In general, a good digital replacement for the notorious diary.


Photo Note . Surely, everyone has old albums with photos, on the reverse side of which something is written like: "Moscow, New Year, 1985." or "Little Johnny: First steps. Leningrad, 1953. Similar handwritten notes, only in digital format can now be left on the back of the photos stored in GALAXY Note II.


The final performance of Samsung’s new unformatted flagship is increased performance: a built-in 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.1 OS (Jelly Bean), 16 GB user memory + 2 GB RAM and a 3100 mAh battery.
