MeeGo-startup Jolla received 200 million euros of investment

Another good news for those who follow the fate of the mobile system MeeGo, which is currently engaged in the Finnish startup Jolla, formed by former Nokia employees - the company received 200 million euros of investment and is preparing in mid-2013 to transfer the finished system to partners and manufacturers. The former MeeGo was codenamed MeeGo Sailfish or simply Sailfish , and Chinese companies based in Hong Kong are called the source of investment.

Thus, some questions raise company priorities with respect to the geography of Sailfish distribution. CEO Jolla Jussi Hurmola says bluntly that his company is going to build another alternative to existing mobile ecosystems in China, naming Android and iOS as competitors. At the same time, it is essential to note that Jolla has agreements with the Chinese retailer of D.Phone phones, the company's R & D departments will be based in Shanghai and Beijing along with data centers and other Jolla infrastructure.

As a competitive advantage, the open nature of the system will be presented, so that a large developer community of MeeGo can contribute to the “reborn” MeeGo, and the system will be more friendly than the same Android.

Jussi Hurmola:

For example, mobile operators, banks, government and health authorities will be able to integrate their own development directly into Sailfish OS.
